I love this movie, so here’s my design. Next films are Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2.

What can I say about this movie that hasn’t already been said? It’s amazing. If you haven’t seen it, change that. It’s beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, very intense on both an emotional level (mostly fear) and on the level of action. Their go-to director of photography, Roger Deakins, is in great form here. I can’t recommend this movie enough.

For the next 13 weeks or so, I’ll be covering the Coen Brothers with my Film Friday entries. This week is Raising Arizona, starring Holly Hunter and Nicolas Cage, also making an appearance is John Goodman, who will feature in and star in several more Coen films after this. Raising Arizona is quite a bit different from Blood Simple, with a much lighter tone and is basically a comedy. In my opinion this is Cage’s first great role, he has the most screen time and gives a good comedy performance. I’ve included the original theatrical trailer for those who haven’t seen it or have no idea what it’s about (it’s not a great trailer, I’m pretty sure they didn’t handle its creation.) Next week is Miller’s Crossing, one of my favorites!
